Top features that Autodesk pulled out from Revit 2019:

  1. Suites Workflows such as switch to 3Ds Max
  2. Collaboration for Revit (C4R) Communicator instant messaging
  3. Exporting to .adsk file format
  4. Publish to Buzzsaw

Conclusion:

  • Cut down on too many options
  • Reduce obsolete commands confusion
  • Replace with better ways to do it

Top features that Autodesk added in Revit 2019:

  1. Software file version displayed before file is opened
  2. Levels are now visible in 3D views
  3. Ability to swap orthographic and perspective views
  4. Un-cropped 3D perspective views
  5. Utilize multiple fill patterns in the same element
  6. Added an “OR” condition in View Filters
  7. Use a “Slow double click” to rename views
  8. Ability to disable “Would you like to rename levels and views”
  9. Autodesk is heavily investing in BIM 360 Workflows (BIM 360 Design, Docs, Glue, Field, etc.)
  10. BIM 360 Design is much friendlier than Collaboration for Revit (C4R)
  11. BIM 360 Docs is much friendlier than BIM 360 Team especially when it comes to Folder Permissions
  12. New modern UI look for Revit, align with Windows 10, drag views to multiple monitors, Tabbed views, docking views
  13. Promoting Revit for the Construction Industry
  14. Adding the Structural “Steel” Tab in 2019
  15. Split Railing in model mode
  16. MEP Design to Fabrication workflows

Conclusion:

  • Note that the ability to disable some features may be a double edge sword, since changing it back may require you to edit the Revit .ini file.
  • So my advice is Be Careful what you wish for .. because you may get it!
