Autodesk BIM 360 Build is used by contractors and construction teams for field execution with a focus on quality and safety, progress tracking and work coordination. With its Cost Management add-on module, it is a cloud-based, mobile construction project management solution that collects data and connects project information and workflows, keeping the accounting office and field teams in sync.

If your company is new to BIM 360 Build and its Cost Management add-on module, the Applied Software technical team offers an Up and Ready service to jump start your company’s administration of Cost Management. You can master the Cost Management workflow as you work with your data, and if you haven’t added it to Build yet, you can do so at any time.

Successful implementation of BIM 360 Cost Management requires proper project set up with appropriate user permissions, company responsibilities, budget codes, naming customization, change order workflows, and document setup.

The Up and Ready foundational services include:

  1. Workflow discovery, planning and kickoff.
  2. Project setup and configuration.
  3. Training
  4. Admin
  5. End user Web
  6. Subcontractor Web
  7. Remote support and mentoring.

The Up and Ready schedule typically requires three days for discovery, planning and training, including admin, end user and subcontractor. Follow up services includesupport and mentoringto help users master the BIM 360 Cost Management workflow.

Discovery, planning and kickoff

Applied Software will conduct a session with executive sponsors, core project management and extended field team to explain the BIM 360 implementation process. The following will be covered:

  1. Workflow discovery, planning and kickoff.
  2. Project setup and configuration.
  3. Training
  4. Admin
  5. End user Web
  6. Subcontractor Web
  7. Remote support and mentoring.

Discovery will take place up to one week prior to implementation.Applied Software provides a customized, phased implementation approach, increasing the value and success of your implementation.  This method allows for less disruption to work processes, reducing the impact on your staff’s billable utilization rates. Depending on the size and complexity of your company, your challenges and your goals, the timeline and organization of these phases can vary.

Project setup and configuration

This project is based on the foundation of the customer’s successful implementation of BIM 360 Build. The strategy is based on new workflows available with the BIM 360 Cost Management add-on. Up and Ready is designed to be used in conjunction with a pilot project and team, providing a business incentive for success.

With guidance from Applied, project champions/project administrators will complete basic configuration of the project site. The system will be set up and configured. The team’s workflows and processes will be collaboratively mapped to the capabilities of the system.

At the conclusion of Up and Ready, you will have a BIM 360 Cost Management project template to use on future projects, plus a team of professionals with BIM 360 Cost Management training and experience they can build on. Additionally, you will have support hours at the ready for use on your pilot project, which will allow for coaching and mentoring of the team to ensure successful use of BIM 360 Cost Management from the beginning of your implementation.

Training

The training portion of the Up and Ready implementation occurs in three parts, taking six hours spaced over three days. Training is process-oriented, so your team members and subs will understand the steps involved in the workflows discussed in the deployment kickoff and goal setting. Using these tools allows for consistency in document management, sharing and tracking.

Sessions will include:

  • Project admin: To ensure they are able to utilize the system, Applied will provide instructor-led, interactive remote training for up to twelve participants using desktop sharing technology.
  • End User Web: End-user training is developed around cost management, including budgets, contracts and change order workflows. Attendance is geared for all licensed users who will be using the Web interface to manage, edit and review all cost implications, plus users who will need to configure and analyze project data via project reports and dashboards – architect, engineer, owner, and contractor roles.
  • Subcontractor Web: This training is for all project subcontractors who will need access to review and respond to issues and tasks assigned to their respective companies.

Remote support and mentoring

An important feature of the Up and Ready service is the ongoing support and mentoring for project team members and administrators as needed. Support includes assistance with day to day use and maintenance of BIM 360 Cost Management and accounts, as well as user management. Applied will also help work with Autodesk to resolve account issues pertaining to the use of BIM 360 Cost Management. Support and mentoring are conducted remotely and provided for 30 days upon the commencement of training.
