Missing Default Pipe Specs CustomParts Imperial/Metric?!
Every now and then we or one of our clients forgets to have some key specs in the project. Mainly because they sometimes get deleted or seem insignificant. Here’s a list of the stock specs that you might end up needing by using certain Plant 3d features.
CustomPartsImperial | Required to use the Custom Parts palette (warnings display if not found on metric projects) |
CustomPartsMetric | Required to use the custom parts palette (warnings display if not found on Imperial projects) |
PipeSupportSpec | Pipe spec used to generate a support tool palette. May be removed if you have a different spec and are using the Spec viewer to insert supports, or if you include your pipe supports in your normal spec. |
PlaceHolder Imperial | Utilized by various routines (custom parts, PCF to Pipe) requiring placeholder parts. Can be removed on metric projects. |
PlaceHolder Metric | Utilized by various routines (custom parts, PCF to Pipe) requiring placeholder parts. Can be removed on Imperial projects. |
Instrumentation Imperial | Spec used to generate a instrument tool palette. May be removed if you have a different spec and are using the Spec viewer to insert instruments, or if you include your instruments in your normal spec. |
Instrumentation Metric | Spec used to generate a instrument tool palette. May be removed if you have a different spec and are using the Spec viewer to insert instruments, or if you include your instruments in your normal spec. |
What happens if you accidentally removed the specs? Luckily, those are still stored in the content folder (unless you deleted them too).
Location | Specs |
C:\AutoCAD Plant 3D 20XX Content\CPak Common\ | Instrumentation Imperial and metric, PipeSupportsSpec, PlaceHolder Imperial and Metric |
C:\AutoCAD Plant 3D 2021 Content\CPak Common\CustomPartsSpecs | CustomParts Imperial and Metric |
If you removed them from your project, use the table above to find the correct install location, and then copy them to your project or put them in a shared specs folder.
