Revit users love using BIM 360 Design. They love it because they can collaborate in the cloud while designing their models and projects in Revit. BIM 360 Design is the fastest growing product line in the history of Autodesk, and it’s been so popular because it works. Everything about it works – except for. . .
Users hate syncing and publishing their models. It takes forever. And if other people are syncing their models at the same time, it takes even longer than forever. That’s the number one piece of feedback that we at Applied Software hear about BIM 360 Design: syncing and publishing are so painful they drain away your life force. And because they do, many users forget to (or even stop) regularly syncing and publishing their models.
If that happens and users are not syncing their models, the rest of the team doesn’t have the most recent, updated model to refer to and work with. The design falls behind. Things get missed. Rework has to be done. That will drain the life force out of the entire company.
With 360 Sync, as shown in the Autodesk Knowledge Network screencast, “360 Sync with BIM 360 Design Publish Capabilities,” you can easily set up your model to publish at any time. Here’s how it works:
- Click the “Add Publish” button to create a configuration in 360 Sync.
- Select the BIM 360 site and project that you want to connect to.
- Select the model(s) that you want to publish.
- Save your configuration.
- Click “Run on a Schedule” and choose a time for 360 Sync to publish your model.
Once this is set up, you can publish your models whenever you want – either on demand (at the click of a button) or on a regular schedule (weekly, daily or even multiple times a day). It takes less than five minutes to set up and is so worth it.
Once you publish your models, you can automate your project backups, too. 360 Sync still allows you to automatically upload and download your models and other files from one place to another. Download your models from BIM 360 and sync them with any of the other document management tools that 360 Sync connects to: BIM 360, SharePoint, Procore, Autodesk Vault, Asite, Viewpoint 4Projects, Box, Dropbox, Egnyte, Google Drive, ShareFile, and others.
