One of the most frequent questions we get about 360 Sync is with integration. This blog post will attempt to answser that question. If you take a look at the image above, it does a pretty good job of explaining all of the out-of-the-box integrations that 360 Sync supports, but this blog will do a deeper dive within each possible solution.
360 Sync was designed to integrate data between BIM 360 & Windows. We’ve gone through the trouble of utilizing the APIs available to BIM 360 Field, Glue and Team as well as Autodesk Forge, which is the backbone of BIM 360 Docs & Design. This means we can push file data to or from BIM 360 however we please. If you want to migrate a project from BIM 360 Field to Docs, go ahead. Download your project from Docs to Windows at the end of your project – sure thing! Upload data from your server to BIM 360 – no problem! It’s completely up to you.
360 Sync integrates with Windows and Windows Servers. And, as an added bonus, because 360 Sync integrates with Windows, it also works with any product that has a Desktop Client. If you’re not familiar with Desktop Clients, you can essentially think of them as any cloud service or software that allows drag & drop file & folder functionality on your computer (or server’s) desktop. So data on cloud services like Box, Dropbox, Egnyte, Google Docs & Sharefile can all be accessed with 360 Sync, further improving your file transfer workflows.
In addition to Windows & BIM 360, 360 Sync now integrates with Microsoft SharePoint. This was something that our clients demanded, and we are excited to make it happen. To push or pull data from SharePoint, you just have to input a few important nuggets of information (your server URL, username/password & web listing query), and you can seamlessly move files from SharePoint.
Vault is the newest out-of-the-box integration for 360 Sync. Vault works somewhat differently than the other integrations (in a good way). You setup your Vault Server & credentials, and then create your project mapping. To define what data gets updated, simply select the life cycle filter(s) that should trigger a download in your workflow. Once you’ve setup your project, copy the execution command into the Vault Job Processor. Your files will move automatically based on the filters you chose.
But what about my software?
If none of the above solutions fit your current workflow, worry not! We build 360 Sync based off of customer feedback. In fact, we’ve added most of our new features & integration points to date based on our customers demanding it! So if there’s something out there that you want to connect to, the chances are pretty strong that we can integrate with it. All you have to do is get the conversation started – call your Applied Software Account Advisor to setup a meeting to discuss the opportunity!
