Bluebeam Whats up with VU FB

Vu for Windows and iPad has been around for six years or so. It’s the free viewer from Bluebeam that allows access and navigation within PDF files, including clear and accurate display of all annotations. But don’t go looking for Vu, because it’s gone. Oh where, oh where has our Bluebeam Vu gone? Oh where, oh where could it be?

Vu still shows up in the Bluebeam Knowledge Base for everyone who currently uses it. But as a standalone product, Vu has been discontinued and replaced by an easy 5-step process:

1.) Download a 30-day free trial of Bluebeam Revu 2018.  The new Revu versions have a View Mode that replaces the need for Vu. Get the trial version here.

2.) Use it for 30 days.  Even though Revu is fairly intuitive, go through some of the tutorials. Bluebeam has a Quick Start Guide and short overview videos that can get you going quickly with self-guided learning. Make sure you try out these Revu features:

  • Design review;
  • Drawing management;
  • Submittal review;
  • Document management;
  • Concrete, steel and MEP takeoffs
  • Punch;
  • Site logistics;
  • QA/QC
  • RFI posting.

3.) If Revu grows on you, and you’d like to make it part of your tool collection, contact Applied Software to activate the subscription license. Revu licenses are available as perpetual licenses with annual maintenance or as an annual renewal subscription.

4.) If you decide you don’t want to invest in Revu at the end of the 30 days, simply allow the trial to expire.

5.) Use the expired Revu license as a viewer.  Leave Revu on your system and inaccessible features will be grayed out. View Mode will continue to work.

Revu eliminates repetitive processes, allowing easy paperless workflows. Work with complex documents becomes efficient and simple to navigate. If you’re curious about how the Revu features will improve your productivity, contact Applied Software for a demo of Bluebeam Revu.
